Help for projects affected by Screen East closure

Temporary scheme announced which is designed to support a ring-fenced number of projects which had previously been given a commitment of funding from Screen East.

The UK Film Council has awarded additional funding to EM Media to support projects affected by the closure of Screen East in September 2010.

Today EM Media has launched EM Media East – a temporary scheme, designed to support a ring-fenced number of projects which had previously been given a commitment of funding from Screen East.

Applications for this finance can only be made by invitation from EM Media and applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is 3pm on 31 January 2011.

Applicants must:

  • Be a resident, or have a trading address, in the East of England.  The East of England region covers the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk and the unitary areas of Bedford, Luton, Peterborough, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.  Proof of residence / trading address will be required; and
  • Not be in full-time education; and
  • Be able to demonstrate that they have worked in the media industry for at least six months; and
  • Be over 18.

Applications must be for projects that:

  • Received a commitment of finance from Screen East between 1 April 2009 and Screen East's closure in September 2010.  Such commitment of finance must have been made utilising UK Film Council National Lottery funds – that is from RIFE, Digital Film Archive Fund or Digital Shorts; and
  • Did not receive any, or received only part, of the promised finance but did meet the pre-conditions attaching to the finance, or is still able to meet those conditions; and
  • Still require finance in order to commence and/or complete.
